<image:caption>How do you see the first days, weeks or months with your new baby going? Are there tasks you’d like to delegate to someone else so you can focus on bonding, feeding, healing, nourishing, integrating etc? Or maybe you’re looking for someone to help you with those exact things? Or with getting through the night. We can either plan for postpartum together before the birth or I can hop right in if you’re already there. We’ll work towards the eventual goal of feeling like you can manage it all without me. Fee: $35/hour</image:caption>

<image:title>How I can help - Birth Support - Birth Packages</image:title>
<image:caption>Sliding scale $800 - $1000 The details of labour & birth are dynamic and can be mysterious. How will your journey go? What are some of your hopes? Your fears? Let’s prepare for these together. One of the things you can count on is that I’ll be there supporting you, hands on, whether labour takes hours or days. I’ve collected a lot of knowledge around pregnancy, labour and birth between my nursing and doula trainings. We can build a package that gives us time to share as much or as little of this knowledge as you’re interested in. The birth package includes 2 meetings prenatally, my on-call time from 37 weeks onwards, my support throughout labour & afterwards as well as a couple check-ins postnatally. I’m always available to my clients by email and text in between our in person sessions. You can probably count on a handmade baby balm, some padsicles and a homemade meal or 2 as well.</image:caption>

<image:title>How I got here</image:title>
<image:caption>I graduated from Brock University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and began working as an RN in the hospital in 2012. I have worked on medical and surgical units, labour & delivery units and in a small ER. I’ve also ventured to Swaziland, India and Peru to volunteer as a nurse over the years. I currently work part time for Island Health’s Community Health Services. I support clients on the Saanich Peninsula in their own homes mostly doing palliative care, wound care and chronic disease management. Over the years I have been trying to find how my love for birth work fits into my identity as a nurse. In 2014 I explored the possibility of being a midwife by working part time in a supportive role at On the Drive Midwives and applying to UBC’s Midwifery Program. This same year I took my first doula training through DONA International at Douglas College.</image:caption>

<image:title>How I got here</image:title>
<image:caption>Later that year, I moved back to Ontario to be with my partner and, while finding a new job, I was introduced to palliative care and my identity as a home care nurse began to blossom. Our roots are now set in Victoria and my desire for growth and learning in the birth realm has resurfaced. I indulged in the opportunity to attend the most comprehensive doula program in North America in order to better support my friends and family who are now starting their own families. This 270 hour training has emphasis on anatomy, nutrition, western herbalism, birth team care providers, infant feeding, family support, acupressure, energetics & yoga-therapy. I received my certificate from Pacific Rim College in April of 2021 and, more importantly, I gained a network of friends and birth work allies in our local community.</image:caption>
